πŸ“– Scripture Β· Psalm 23:1-3

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
David wrote this psalm remembering his own years as a shepherd. Sheep are famously helpless β€” easily frightened, prone to wander, unable to survive long without a shepherd. And David says: the LORD is my shepherd.

Notice he does not say "a shepherd" but "my shepherd". Faith is not an abstract idea; it is a personal relationship. Because the Shepherd is his, David can say "I shall not want" β€” not that he has everything he desires, but that he lacks nothing he truly needs.

"He makes me lie down in green pastures." Sheep only lie down when they are fully fed and free from fear. What is keeping your heart from rest today? Bring it to the Good Shepherd. He knows your needs, and for His own name's sake He will lead you all the way.

Prayer: Lord, You are my shepherd. Thank You for providing for me and leading me. Restore my soul today and teach me to rest in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
